MEET ALI
Hi, I’m Ali Mohrman, founder of WHAB Enterprises LLC., a company named after the three people who mean everything to me: my children, Wyatt and Hunter, and my husband, Brian.
My family is at the heart of everything I do, and they are also where the CHEWZ-it® story began.
As a graphic designer by trade, I never expected to become an inventor. I simply saw a problem during an everyday family outing and could not stop thinking about how to solve it.
THE “WAIT, WHY?” MOMENT
It all started in 2021 during a Chipotle outing with my people. Like always, we grabbed our collection of plastic forks and spoons and immediately felt that familiar pang of guilt.
Just before I tossed them, the fork and spoon happened to line up end-to end in my hand, a perfect moment that made me think “Wait... why doesn’t this already exist?”
That simple, slightly ridiculous moment became the birth of the CHEWZ-it® TUtensil, an eco-friendly, 2-in-1 utensil that combines a fork and spoon in one clever design.
FROM IDEA TO REALITY
What followed was anything but simple. A graphic designer by trade, I had zero experience in what I was about to embark on.
I hired an engineer, commissioned CAD drawings, invested in a mold, navigated the trademark and patent process, and completed extensive lab testing to earn a BPI Certification for compostability.
It took five years of obstacles, late nights, mistakes, learning curves and plenty of self-doubt. There were moments when I questioned everything, but I was consistently reminded, “If it were easy, everyone would do it.”
The biggest wins were achieving BPI Certification and receiving a patent. Both are proof that persistence and purpose can turn a napkin sketch into something meaningful.
